Job Description

REPORTS TO:        CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER                  


To assist in the preparation of the annual budget forecast and analyze actual versus budgeted and/or historical results.  Analyze variances in key drivers and operating metrics. Provide decision support on new business initiatives and process improvements.  Prepare analysis and ad hoc reporting to senior management. Evaluate financial data and other management data for accuracy.


  • Assist in the preparation of the annual Grant and Operating budgets
  • Maintain monthly budget to actual reports and analyze variances
  • Develop and maintain financial models (cost accounting) to evaluate viability business decisions or process improvement
  • Gain an understanding of the business, revenue and cost in order to assist with business decision analysis
  • Assist with the design and maintenance of the business intelligence software in order to produce accurate financial data
  • Maintain ongoing understanding of all management software in order to assist with the development and accuracy of financial data
  • Assist in the development and reporting of key financial and operating metrics both management at all levels and the board of directors
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of a monthly cash budget
  • Prepare the annual federal indirect rate calculation
  • Assist with the medical and dental fee schedule updates to maximize profitability
  • Participate in internal audit processes to ensure the integrity of SLFHC assets and financial operations
  • Participate in providing external auditors with full access to SLFHC records and information
  • Assist the Director of Finance in meeting internal and external reporting requirements
  • Participate in special projects that may involve gathering, reporting, and analyzing data

  • One to two years of business analysis experience, preferably in a health care setting
  • Three to four years of accounting experience, preferably in a health care setting
  • Good organizational and analytical skills
  • Computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet, Access and PowerPoint experience
  • Effective interpersonal and telephone communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines


  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in accounting or finance
